Zoo Negara Malaysia announced on it’s website that it will be closed every Tuesday from January 5, 2016 (except on Malaysian School Holidays & Public Holidays.
Deputy president Rosly Ahmat Lana said to the Rakyat Post that “for the first time in its 52 years of operation, the zoo decided to take a one day rest each week for cleaning the cages and areas in the zoo.”
“The closure is necessary due to a shortage of local workers since some need to take a day off after working every day,” he told reporters after attending the birthday celebration of Tsunami, the female Orang Utan of Sumatra at the zoo here yesterday.
