I visited Zoo Madrid from January 11-13, 2012. Zoo Madrid will celebrate its 40th birthday this year.
Po & De De became 16 months old and are weighing both over 50 kg. This is very good for their age and it seems that the twins have been growing very well. They have learned to walk, to run, to climb, to investigate, to communicate and now they are learning to feed themselves with bamboo. They still drink Hua Zui Ba’s milk and the artificial milk, but bamboo is getting more and more the most important ingredient of their diet.
The panda twins, who were born on September 7, 2010, are staying outside together with their mother Hua Zui Ba during the day. They are both very playfull and like to run around in the Spanish sun. But sometimes Hua Zui Ba would like to have some quite eating times.
Bing Xing was wondering if he has to try to breed this year?
Alejandro Cabrera Montero is a new face at the panda enclosure. He worked for many years with other asian animals at Zoo Madrid and joined the panda team at the end of last year.
