Mei Lun and Mei Huan ventured out to the dayroom much to the delight of the staff and guests who visited Zoo Atlanta on November 27, 2013.
Be sure to stop by the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation Giant Panda Conservation Center if you happen to be at Zoo Atlanta. For now, there’s still no guarantee of seeing Lun Lun or the cubs in the dayroom, but yesterday’s Zoo visitors know that you never know when lucky guests may enjoy sightings!
How’s Lun Lun managing her “double trouble” lately?
Is caring for two curious twins as exhausting as we suspect it is? Panda Keeper Heather Roberts shares a few insights on Lun Lun’s habits:
“Since Lun Lun and the cubs have been together all of the time, Lun Lun seems to be sleeping for longer periods of time overnight. Typically she gets up a couple of times in the wee hours to eat, but this last week, she has slept five or six hours at a time at night. At the same time, she is also not taking many naps during the day. The daytime and second shift keepers are constantly providing her with fresh bamboo. I don’t know if having both cubs at the same time is more tiring for her or if she’s exhausted from all of that eating!”
