I visited Tiergarten Schônbrunn / Zoo Vienna on February 11-12, 2012. It was extremely cold in Vienna, as it can be in Austria this time a year. And the snow turned the city and the zoo in Schönbrunn Park into a Winter Wonderland.
This weather is really too cold for us humans, but extremely fun for pandas! Most wild pandas live high in the snowy mountains of China’s Sichuan and Shaanxi Provinces, but our captive friends also enjoy themselves so much when in the snow.
Yang Yang and her cub Fu Hu, who was born at Zoo Vienna on August 23, 2010 are having the days of their lives. Playing, climbing, running around, eating very cold bamboo… they love it.
But it was Tiergarten Schönbrunn / Zoo Vienna’s male panda Long Hui who became really crazy.
Can you see how much he liked the snow? Snow is the best panda toy ever!
When it’s snowing pandas are always playfull. We know they are solitary animals, but it looks like they all wanted to play together now…

Panda Keeper Nicole and I might look a little frozen… but when looking at pandas you seem to forget that soon!
