The FedEx Panda Express has landed in at Edinburgh Airport around 1 pm. Tian Tian and Yang Guang, the newest residents of the Edinburgh Zoo, made it safely to Scotland.
The pair are the first giant pandas to live in the UK for 17 years. The pandas arrived to wintry conditions in Edinburgh with temperatures of about 3C, having left temperatures of 10C at Chengdu Airport.
Edinburgh Zoo’s Head of Animals Darren McGarry and Head of Giant Pandas Alison McLean made this short but promising statement:
“Its been an absolutely brilliant day and everything as gone just as we had hoped. The early signs from Tian Tian and Yang Guang are very good, they appear relaxed and are adjusting to their new home. Both were enjoying a meal as we left them for the night.”
