Su Lin gave birth on July 7, 2011, at the Wolong’s Hetaoping Base, but she is not an experienced mother and she always drops the baby giant panda on the ground.
There are minor abrasions on the left hind leg, so the baby giant panda has to be sent to the nursing room to be artificially fed.
Su Lin was born in the San Diego Zoo on August 2, 2005, and she returned to China on September 26, 2010.
Long-time living away from her baby will lead to Su Lin’s delactation. Therefore, the researchers decide to change a stronger and healthier baby for Su Lin to feed.
Another mother panda name Xi Xi gave birth to twins on July 8, 2011. The elder brother is very strong and weighs more than 240 grams. He has strong physical resistance and greater ability to find breast milk, so the researchers decide to “steal” the strong baby and send it to Su Lin to be fed.
The feeder got the baby out from Xi Xi and applied the feces of Su Lin’s baby on the anus so that Su Lin took it as her own baby.
Because the giant pandas can feed only one baby, the feeder gave Xi Xi the other twin, a little daughter.
All the three baby giant pandas and Su Lin and Xi Xi are now doing well.
