Dear panda fans,
2015 has been another fantastic year with some very exciting panda conservation news.
The State Forestry Administration, P.R.China has announced that there are 1.864 wild giant pandas in China, according to the latest Fourth National Giant Panda Survey. This means an increase of 16.8% in wild panda numbers over the past decade
As of November 1, 2015, the global population of captive giant pandas has reached 425 individuals. This means an increase of 7.05% for the captive population over the past year. 40 surviving giant panda cubs were born, including the first ever in Malaysia and Canada.
But 2015 was also a year to celebrate our senior giant pandas: Ocean Park Hong Kong’s 37 year-old Jia Jia has set two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ titles for the longevity of giant pandas under human care and Fuzhou Panda World’s 35 year-old Basi received the most spectacular birthday party ever full of pandamonium.
I am sure that 2016 will bring much more panda moments to celebrate.
Today I invite you to celebrate all future giant panda moments on GiantPandaGlobal.com. I hope this rebrand of my giant panda website will keep you informed and passionate about pandas for many more years.
Enjoy GiantPandaGlobal.com and love pandas!
Happy New Year!
