Giant pandas at Münchner Tierpark Hellabrunn
On January 21, 2026 it was announced that the Mûnchner Tierpark Hellabrunn signed a coöperation with CWCA, that will bring 2 giant pandas from the
Chengdu Panda Base to Müchen in 2028.
This will be the second time that a giant panda will be seen in München. Male panda Happy lived at the Mûnchner Tierpark Hellabrun from April 17, 1939 until May 9, 1939 on his tour through Germany.
