GiantPandaGlobal.com is a website that contains historical facts, visitor information and news about the giant pandas around the world. The Giant Panda-encyclopedia’s mission is to spread the word about giant panda conservation.

GiantPandaGlobal.com was founded by Jeroen Jacobs.
The first edition of the website went online on October 15, 2000, as “My Giant Panda Page”.
From 2007 until 2015 you could find all the panda information on GiantPandaZoo.com and the current concept by the name of GiantPandaGlobal.com was launched in 2016.

Jeroen Jacobs was born on November 6, 1985 in Antwerp, Belgium.

His giant panda story started when 2 giant pandas, Wan Wan & Xi Xi, visited his home town Antwerp in the Summer of 1987. As so many people around the world, he became fascinated by these black and white bears on loan from China. Many visits to the Zoo van Antwerpen were the start of a passion for pandas.

5 years after the panda loan to Belgium, Jeroen and his family made their first panda vacation trip.
They visited Yen Yen at the Zoo de Vincennes in Paris, France on April 12, 1992. This was the start of his many panda travels.

His first trip to China, the giant panda’s home country, was in September 2010.
One year later, he attended the ‘Annual Conference of the Chinese Committee of Breeding Techniques for Giant Pandas’ for the first time.

Jeroen wants to send this message to all panda fans around the world:
Without the great work of panda experts over the past 40 years, there was a possibility that there would be no more giant pandas today… It is very important for our planet that we don’t lose this amazing animal. I think we all should try to support the important panda conservation work in China. They do great work and it looks like the world became a little better for the giant panda. But we cannot forget that there is still much work to do… and that habitat protection is very important for our planet. Let’s all try to Make a Difference in Panda Conservation!
