Fuzhou Panda World and the other panda centers have been working on establishing a Giant Panda blood bank in order to have blood to treat pandas suffering from severe anemia, diseases, loss of blood from a fight or, like humans, blood transfusion treatment.
On these pictures experts at Fuzhou Panda World are showing the process involved in collecting about 420 ml (about 14 FL. OZ.) from a young healthy panda in Fuzhou on March 24, 2012. As a precaution a tank of oxygen was brought into the room where the blood was collected.
